How to apply makeup - II

In the previous article we discussed how to apply foundation, blush, and lipstick. In this article we are going to concentrate on the eye makeup that is necessary to complete the picture. With these make up tips you should be able to feel beautiful about yourself, and know that you have gone out looking your absolute best.

  • Eye makeup can be difficult as there have been several methods throughout the last six decades on how to apply makeup. These make up tips are to help you figure out what method is best for you. In our last article we discussed the conservative methods for applying makeup, and will continue to do so.

  • The first part of eye makeup is the concealer. The concealer will help hide any wrinkles or bags that have formed under your eyes. This is important because most of us would like our eyes to speak volumes, and of course tired eyes don’t do us justice. If you know you are going out for the evening you may wish to try cucumber slices or a cucumber cream throughout the day to help reduce your baggy eyes.

  • Once you have taken care of the unsightly appearance of bags you are ready to apply the eye shadow.

  • The eye shadow can be applied in a variety of ways. Most women prefer to have three colors. One make up tip that I prefer to use is starting off with a white base on my eye lids. This white base offers a bit of concealer for any bruising or darkness that my eyelids have. I am fair skinned so this doesn’t work for everyone.

  • After the base color a light colored eye shadow should be used. For an example say you have decided on blue for the evening. You need to have a lighter blue to start with, and later I will explain this. The light blue should be used just on the eyelid. You can cover the entire eyelid with the blue or accentuate the eye by coloring half of the lid, and extending the color just past the crease, almost to your eyebrow line. The next color you use should be a little darker for above your eyelid. Basically I mean the space between your eyelid and your eye brow. To apply the makeup here you will need to raise your eyebrows. This shade is a little darker, but still not the darkest color you will use. This area helps to highlight your eye. Again you can extend the full eye or just half the area. It really depends on the color you are using a natural shade doesn’t need to extend too far, but something that is darker like blue may look better to cover the entire eyelid and area.

  • The last color you will use is the darkest color. You will apply this color to the crease between the eyelid and brow. When you blink the darker color will be apparent and offer a bit of accentuation to the entire appearance when your eyes are open.
