Choosing Your Colors - II
In the last article you were introduced to the winter and fall palettes. This article will bring into focus the spring and summer palettes. There are subtle differences in these palettes but they deal with warm and cool colors just as the winter and fall palettes did. You want to give a natural sparkle and glow no matter what your palette so it is important to start from the skin and go forward from there.
The spring palette is always going to have yellow undertones in their skin but there again there are differences even here. You may also have an ivory, beige or peach complexion. The peach complexion might just have fresh pink tones. You are often very fair and may have a smattering of freckles. Your skin tone will give you the basis for your foundation. Nothing helps to make you appear older or less glowing than the wrong foundation.
Good skin care gives you the best canvas to begin with, so always make sure you take proper care of your skin. Test your choice of foundation on the underside of your chin and up over your chin onto your cheek. This will give you true results and you will be able to determine if you have made the right choice. Spring foundation colors would choose a yellow toned beige if you have a lighter complexion. Gold based beige tones would be for a darker skin and if you are somewhere in between, choose ivory or peach tones. Blushes and lipsticks in peaches or corals and eye shadows in soft apricot, soft brown or aqua will really bring out your eyes.
The summer palette will always have blue undertones, but can also be a translucent rosy pink. You can be quite pale so you don’t want to choose the wrong colors or you will be overwhelmed. The idea is to be natural but better. Your foundation would lean toward rosy toned beiges or perhaps a pink beige tone. Light plum or a light pink blush will give you a glow without overpowering your face. Lipsticks in pale pink, soft plum or burgundy will complement your skin tones. Eye shadows in soft brown, soft gray will enhance your startlingly beautiful eyes. Since you have a cool based skin tone you want to keep in mind you want to keep red tones out of your palette. Think pastel when you go for your eye, blush and lipstick colors.
As we all know feeling good about ourselves isn’t a bad thing, we all like to feel and look our best. When you discover what colors in foundation, eye shadow, blush and lipsticks are a compliment to your skin you can have a better outlook on life. They will give you more self confidence. With self confidence you will feel more like standing up straight, not slouching in chairs, and over all give a better appearance of yourself to others and to yourself. So remember to choose your colors wisely.
